Jim Oschmann, past president of SPIE, the International Society of Optics and Photonics, is a retired executive from Ball Aerospace. Prior to joining Ball Aerospace in 2004, Oschmann served in varied positions in the science, commercial and aerospace industries. Jim worked for AURA as the Gemini Observatory’s construction Project Manager and then the Project Manager for the National Solar Observatory Inouye Solar Telescope’s conceptual design phase.  He was on the National Academy of Sciences ASTRO2020 Decadal Survey Steering Committee.  He currently co-chairs the Habitable Worlds Observatory Assessment Board, serves on the Photonect Interconnect Solutions Inc. Board of Directors, and the University of Arizona College of Optical Sciences Advisory Board.  Jim holds a BS in Optics from the University of Rochester and an MS in Optical Sciences and a MBA from the University of Arizona.
