AURA in Chile is now accepting applications for the 2021 AURA Padre Picetti Award, open to all science teachers in Chile! Every year the award recognizes leaders in education and outreach in Chile for their outstanding performance and contributions to the community in the subject of science, not only to young students, but also to the general public. Their work results in motivating new generations of astronomers and scientific professionals in Chile.

The award consists of:
One 8-inch Dobsonian telescope or similar
One observation night in Cerro Tololo along with our astronomers (date will be coordinated when AURA authorizes public visits in their sites)

Submit an application for your favorite science teacher from October 28th 2021 to January 07th, 2022

About the Padre Picetti Award

The Padre Picetti Award was created in 2014 by the AURA Observatory in Chile. This Award is inspired by father Juan Baptista Picetti from the Seminario Conciliar school. A father and enthusiastic teacher that, along with an infinite patience and dedication dedicated his life to awake the enthusiasm and passion for science of young people and children. The Picetti Award is an annual initiative that aims to recognize Chilean leader teachers and professionals with special dedication to science and astronomy. The call and application is made every year through AURA Observatory in Chile. The winner is decided by a mixed committee formed by representatives from different scientific and education institutions.

Observatorio AURA abre las postulaciones para Premio Padre Picetti 2021

¡Ya abrimos las postulaciones para el Premio AURA-Padre Picetti 2021 que se extiende para los educadores de todo Chile! El premio reconoce anualmente a líderes en educación y extensión del país por su extraordinario desempeño y contribuciones a la comunidad en la enseñanza de la ciencia. Ello no sólo a los jóvenes estudiantes, sino también al público en general, incentivando de esta manera a nuevas generaciones de astrónomos y profesionales científicos para Chile.

El premio consiste en:
Un telescopio dobsoniano de 8 pulgadas o similar
Una noche de observación en Cerro Tololo junto a astrónomos de AURA (cuando las condiciones sanitarias lo permitan)

Postula desde el 28 de octubre de 2021 hasta el 07 de enero de 2022

Premio AURA-Padre Picetti

En 2014, el Observatorio AURA en Chile creó este reconocimiento inspirado por el padre Juan Baptista Picetti del colegio Seminario Conciliar. Un sacerdote y entusiasta maestro que con gran paciencia dedicó su vida a despertar el entusiasmo y la pasión por la ciencia en jóvenes y niños. El Premio AURA-Padre Picetti es una iniciativa anual que busca reconocer a profesores líderes y profesionales que trabajan en Chile con especial dedicación hacia la ciencia y la astronomía. La convocatoria y postulación se realiza todos los años a través del Observatorio AURA en Chile y una comisión mixta integrada por representantes de diversas instituciones científicas y educacionales decide el ganador.
