Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I obtain copyright permission to use AURA astronomical images?
A. For Hubble Telescope images, check out the Space Telescope Science Institute's (STScI) copyright notice. For images from one of the National Optical Astronomy Observatory telescopes, see NOAO's copyright statement.  For images from the Gemini Observatory, see Gemini's image/video usage policy.

Q. Where can I find a listing of universities that offer undergraduate and graduate programs in astronomy?
A. Go to our Membership page. Here you will find a listing of member universities and institutions. Each listing contains a link to its respective astronomy department website. This list contains many, but not all, university-based astronomy programs.

Q. Where can I find listings of job openings and career information related to astronomy?
A. Our site does not list job openings or career information. However, a good link to check out for employment information is the American Astronomical Society's (AAS) Career Services page. AAS also posts a job register of professional astronomy positions worldwide.

Q. Who can I contact about star-naming?
A. See the International Astronomical Union's (IAU) information page on naming stars.
